Approaching Your Car

1. Have key ready before approaching car.
2. Look inside car; checking front and rear seat areas for intruder.
3. Lock door immediately upon entering (even before placing key in ignition).

Upon Returning Home

1. Locate your house key before leaving car or before approaching ho
use if walking.
2. If you find evidence of intrusion, leave or call the police.
3. If you observe a strange car or person on premises, leave and cal
l police.
4. Enter cautiously and be alert.
5. If an intruder is in you house, leave immediately and call police

Do not attempt to interfere with the intruder's escape.

To help you keep your vehicle, follow these helpful reminders:

• Park in well-lit areas with pedestrian traffic.
• Lock your vehicle, roll up the windows and take your keys with you.
• Hide valuables in a secure location, such as the trunk, under the seat or any place out of view.
• Consider using a steering-wheel locking device to help secure your vehicle.
• Consider installing a security alarm system for your vehicle.
• Consider installing a tracking device in your vehicle to help recover it if it is stolen.
• Consider VIN etching the windows of your vehicle.
• NEVER leave your keys in an unattended vehicle.
• NEVER leave the title to your vehicle inside your vehicle.

Inform your local police department immediately. Criminals often use stolen vehicles to commit other crimes.
